A-side B-side Gallery; Dreaming of a Black & White Christmas

Alexander Heaton

7 December – 6 January

A-side B-side Gallery; Dreaming of a Black & White Christmas

As we’re all running around spending money like there’s no tomorrow (and all for one day), Dreaming of a Black & White Christmas by A-side B-side Gallery reminds us that perhaps we shouldn’t get so caught up in the mass-consumer model of contemporary Christmas. Inspired by the 1960s’ Beat Generation, this exhibition rejects materialistic values in favour of oodles of creativity with independent values at its heart – there’s live music, cocktails, craft, painting, photography, illustration and much more… just don’t turn up in your red Santa’s hat.

A-side B-side Gallery; Dreaming of a Black & White Christmas, A-side B-side Gallery, 1st floor Hackney Downs Studios, 5-9 Amhurst Terrace, E8 2BT; Running from 7th December until 6th January. Open Thursday to Sunday 12:00pm – 6:00pm & by appointment

Dirty South

8 & 9 December

Guerrilla Eats; Food Revolution

The good people of Manchester have been waiting for a decent street food scene for a while now and it seems that alas, the food revolution is about to hit at full pelt (let’s hope so). Guerrilla Eats – a collective of passionate street food traders – are all about great food, served by great people at great prices (great!) – and this weekend they’ll host a lively pop-up market in the Northern Quarter. The food, made from the freshest ingredients, promises to be creative and diverse, and with the likes of Fire and Salt BBQ, Dirty Dogs Hot Dogs, Las Paelleras and Sugar Bun Sisters (for a sweet fix), we have total faith and are keeping everything crossed that this really does become a regular occurrence in 2013.

Guerrilla Eats; Food Revolution, Port Street Car Park, Port Street, Northern Quarter, Manchester M1 2EQ; Running 8th and 9th December. Open 4:00pm – 11:00pm Saturday and 11:00am – 4:00pm Sunday
