Huck presents Anywhere Road

Brief exhibition a masterclass in carefree cool...

Inspired by HUCK magazine’s On the Road Issue, in turn inspired by Jack Kerouac’s seminal 1950s counterculture book of the same name, Anywhere Road was a brief celebratory exhibition that ran last weekend at Leonard Street’s 71a gallery. Not usually ones to post retrospective pieces – we prefer that you can be inspired to go out and see it for yourself – having popped along ourselves, the exhibition’s layout left a rather sweet taste in our collective mouths.

Featuring the photographic work of decidedly hip female skaters from around the world – Maria Falbo, Jenna Selby and Louisa Menke, to name just three – the presentation of said works followed the same kind of fluid, easy going flow as Kerouac’s famed ‘spontaneous prose’… a refreshing antidote to the staid framing and placement we witness so often. Fitting of its inspiration, fitting of its theme, and of its subject matter; Anywhere Road was a lovely little masterclass in carefree cool.
