Vander Urbani

Design resort basks in reflected glory...

Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who’s the fairest hotel…in Slovenia? You are, Vander Urbani, you glittery little minx. On the face of it, not your average Ljubljana hotel, and scratching the surface (actually please don’t, they look expensive) reveals a charming story of love and family that adds soul to the shine.

Owners and developers Amanda and Aleksander Vujadinovič shared their first kiss on the steps of the building, lived and raised their children next door, all the while expanding, knocking through, and buying around until they realised they had a space that could be developed into a hotel and shared with more than just family and friends, but the world at large. Lucky world.

While the hotel, a member of the Design Hotels family, sits on the eastern bank of the River Ljubljanica in an area of baroque, renaissance, art nouveau and medieval architecture, its public spaces and 16 rooms and suites created by architects Sadar and Vuga are all right on the cutting edge of modern design.

On reflection, very nice indeed.
