Jewellery by Aoúd

We are loving this rather androgynous jewellery by Italian brand Aoúd. Adorned with tassels and skulls, this type of accessorising is right up our street. The SS12 collection has been selling in selected boutiques throughout Italy, as well as Dubai and ahem… Birmingham; and the statement pieces – handmade in Italy – are crafted using materials such as silver and brass – which beautifully show off the natural stones… think amethyst, garnet, white quartz to name but a few. Now I just need to choose what outfit to wear with these little lovelies…

Dorothy; Film Map

Having featured the brilliant Song Map by Dorothy earlier this year, we’re excited to see that they’re continuing the series with Film Map. Comprising some 900+ film titles – classics such as Reservoir Dogs, Nightmare on Elm Street and Jurassic Park – it’s inspired by vintage Los Angeles street maps and also includes a red light district, its own Hollywood Boulevard as well as pubs and bars containing names from well known films. But don’t just take our word for it; half of the fun is looking closely at the map and uncovering your own hidden gems… Snap up one for yourself and see.

Hat-trick Design; type(chess)set

Having no idea how to play chess, I must admit that the type(chess)set by Hat-trick Design, appealed to me purely on aesthetic. The board, made from two 2mm pieces of greyboard, is foiled in black – and the pieces are laser cut from 25mm acrylic. Standing a proud 50mm tall is the King, whilst the Pawn is a shorter 30mm. The forms based on typeface Champion (Lightweight) by Hoefler Frere Jones make this limited edition of 50 sets a must for typophiles, font junkies and chess enthusiasts (do you think many of them read We Heart?) alike.

Paul Smith for Leica X2 Camera; Limited Edition

With the bright orange top plate, and contrasting bold yellow bottom plate, this X2 has all the trademarks of a Paul Smith design. Electing racing green cowhide leather as the main material – which elegantly wraps around the main body of the camera – not only is it stunning to look at, but boasts the technical excellence you’d expect of Leica. Discerning photographers and fashionistas will have to wait until November to get their hands on one though.

Charlie Crowther-Smith; Wooden Desk Lamp

Having seen Charlie Crowther-Smith’s Bind Table at London Design Festival recently (we were impressed how thanks to the binding, the table could be assembled and reassembled with ease), it was only natural that we’d want to see more from the Bristol-based furniture designer and maker. In keeping with his simplistic theme, Wooden Desk Lamp – made in three timbers, oak, ash and ramin dowel – contains an adjustable angle desk lamp lit by a low voltage LED bulb, and is built from small pieces which are typically thrown away or onto the fire in larger production pieces.

Sarah Milton; ‘Letterforms’ Wallpaper

Specialising in luxury silkscreen printed typographic wallpapers and artist prints, Letterforms by Sarah Milton is an assemblage of letters that have been abstracted using origami folds and reassembled into a checkers formation. The coral and fuchsia colours exude a bold, dramatic appearance whilst the silkscreen printing retains a certain rugid chicness. A fabulous statement piece…

Hanna Francis; Kajo Collection

The dainty wood lampshades which form the Kajo Collection from Hanna Francis Design, makes the inevitable and impending winter an almost appealing prospect. Incorporating three designs; Flower, Leaf and Knit – which are available as a drum or a tapered shade – choose from the lighter Oak colour or the darker Smoked Oak to add a touch of Scandinavian simplicity to your home…
