This Saturday, Alpha-ville Screening and Alpha-ville Live will take place at the Hackney Picturehouse and Hackney Empire respectively. The former incorporates the Future of Moving Image Award, which acknowledges the best talent pushing boundaries of moving image as a tool for creative expression, innovation and forward thinking – whilst the Live event, taking place in the evening, explores the relationship between electronic music, digital art and visual practices… featuring a collaboration between Murcof & AntiVJ and amongst others.

Liverpool Love Art Exhibition

An exhibition of contemporary works by internationally renowned artists, Liverpool Love, at the Museum of Liverpool, features a collection of 28 pieces inspired by the Merseyside city. Should you fall in love with any of the art, you’ll be able to snap it up on the auction night taking place in November whilst supporting a charity as the funds raised will go to the local children’s hospice; Claire House. Featured artists include Sir Peter Blake, Yoko Ono and Noel Fielding and encompass photographs of iconic Merseyside figures, a painting of The Beatles and a pair of Liverpool-themed high heeled shoes.

London Cocktail Week at Seven Dials

London Cocktail Week at Seven Dials

Celebrating all things cocktail culture, London Cocktail Week takes place around Seven Dials next week. The wonderfully historic Covent Garden area will be shimmying and shaking along as it hosts one of the UK’s biggest drinks festivals and with seven cocktail pop-up bars – including the brilliantly sounding Smatt’s Rum & Ice Cream Shack which combines rum, cocktails and ice cream and Hendrick’s Gin Mobile Librarybag yourself a £4 wristband whilst you still can. Also on the menu are tastings, parties and masterclasses; and for those who want to know a little more about cocktails (rather than just how good they taste), a host of seminars will inspire and educate. If this isn’t enough to tempt you, the area’s shops and boutiques will be staying open later than usual, and £4 cocktails will be available at many bars and pubs.

A packed programme which includes Danny Boyle’s Sunshine, Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride, a puppet-making workshop and a prison set visit, will have film buffs flocking to Stratford this weekend for the Made in 3 Mills Film Festival. To celebrate their archives they’ve planned a series of film screenings, parties, set tours, creative workshops and talks with the people behind the films. Taking place at both their studio and Stratford Picture House the festival culminates on Sunday evening with an evening of authentic Bangladeshi cuisine followed by a screening of Brick Lane at Sugarhouse Studios.

Independent Manchester Beer Convention

The Indy Man Beer Con (for short) or IMBC (even shorter) means one thing… beer, and lots of it. Taking place in Manchester’s beautiful Victoria Baths, there will be Brit-brews from Brewdog, the excellent local brewers Marble and Quantum; as well as those from further afield. There’s also going to be plenty of eating options, a pop-up from The Great North Pie Company will be serving a special cold cutting pork pie, which has been created especially for the event whilst talks and workshops throughout will keep you further occupied.

Had you have been at King’s Boulevard, King’s Cross at 1pm today, you’d have no doubt witnessed the parade of KERB street traders – a food van parade of sorts – making their merry way through the street. London’s newest street-food hub from eat.st co-founder, Petra Barra, is a quest to link the very best of London’s gastronomic industry with a fiercely unique urban regeneration mission, and to celebrate and kick things off in style, there’s food, music and entertainment next to Central St Martins this evening from 6pm for the launch party.
