French artist's playful fashion-bible interventions...

Propagating visions of fantasy as real-life, and real-life as fantasy – the world of the fashion mag is a conflation of pop culture imagery, distanced reality, consumerism and ideologies. In short; they flood you with images of mass culture, promoting a way of life that’s all but unobtainable. On the whole, it’s a practice that’s brash, ballsy and tremendous amounts of fun – scratch the surface though, and the critics and cynics have a justifiable voice.

Whether questioning their worth, and status in society – or simply joining in with their playfully warped vision of reality; Barcelona-based French multidisciplinary designer Aurelien Juner‘s photographic series, Surface, is a fascinating assemblage of contorted and distorted depictions of internationally renowned fashion-bibles.
