One of the highlights of London Design Festival for us was the evening we spent at The Dock, formerly Virgin’s headquarters – where Tom Dixon‘s new shop was launching, alongside the Moooi & Senso showroom and MyDeco’s rather engaging lighting competition. Amongst all that designery goodness however, our overactive taste buds were drawn towards something else, the evolution of a former pop-up supper club from chef Stevie Parle – formerly of The River Café. Finally dropping anchor at The Dock last September, Moveable Kitchen – now The Dock Kitchen – was a roaming pop-up restaurant that focused upon set-menu supper clubs, inspired by the season, an author, or a favourite place. The proximity to Tom Dixon’s design studio would of course lead to only one thing – a rather lavish refurbishment, which was completed just before the aforementioned design festival, and of course, it doesn’t disappoint. Thankfully the food matches the inimitable design of the kitchen and, along with Dixon’s team, there’s a shared interest in best quality materials from all over the world. Stylish, decidedly cool and just one of the reasons why Portobello Dock is becoming such an exciting destination, The Dock Kitchen is one to watch…
